Lollipop Baby Camera supports Wi-Fi in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. Make sure the environment in which you wish to place Lollipop Baby Camera has 2.4G and 5GHz frequency Wi-Fi coverage.
The Difference Between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz:
2.4 GHz |
5 GHz |
|
Speed | Slow | Fast |
Range | Far | Short |
Coverage Area | Large | Small |
Interference | Easy | Hard |
Bandwidth | Low | High |
Tranmission through concrete walls | Better | Worse |
Is there a way to force the camera to connect only to the 5GHz network?
Lollipop Baby Camera will connect automatically to the last known available network with the strongest signal that the customer added the camera to. If the available network is out of range or off, the camera remembers the last few networks it was connected to, so it might try to connect to those if it can find/detect them.
There is no way to force the camera to connect to 5GHz. However, you can try forcing the router to generate a 5GHz network that the camera already knows. In other words, you can change the 2.4GHz network to another name.
To do this, you need to log into your router’s settings webpage and change the SSID (Wi-Fi network name) only for the 2.4GHz network. If you can do this, the camera will connect only to the 5GHz one because it is the only known network now that the 2.4GHz will appear as a new one under a different name.
🍭Note: We are constantly improving our camera hardware and software. Therefore, if you purchase the camera before October 2020, the model supports only 2.4GHz.
